Gina Content Management System
Week 14, hunkered down.
Thankfully I have enough RAM to juggle 2 IDEs, 2 browsers, a text editor and a Debian server running in a Virtual Machine. Komodo IDE and Zend Studio are proving invaluable in understanding the Textpattern code base.
In today’s fast paced tech world, being an expert at anything is somewhat of a hindrance. What you need nowadays is a grasp of the big picture and only dive into a how-to when absolutely necessary.
This week I gave up on projects that require you to load up all kinds of things on your machine just to try them out. Do I really need all that stuff just to try out your new theme?
That’s like me saying, hey look over here, I got a really nice CMS, but before you can try it out, you’ll need a Mac Pro, all the software on this list, a really cute girlfriend, and a cat. Jettison the dog, he’s not compatible.
Yes, it’s a fast paced world. You can launch a project, an idea, anything your heart desires in a morning millisecond. Have it picked up by Google during lunch, and make the social networking circuit by dinner time.
The fickle audience will hail you as the next big thing, you grow a beard, and get another cat. Jettison the girlfriend, she’s not 2.0 material.
Go where you’re celebrated, not where you’re tolerated.
